the day prior to this, the men and i went to look Mark on the nursing domestic. I brought a group of stuff that he requested, which were sitting on my counter all week expecting me to get a hazard to move up there. With all the snow days and crappy climate, I hadn't been up to peer him in about five days. He wanted Vernors (ginger ale), small bags of Ruffles AND Lay's potato chips, mini chocolate protected doughnuts, and a bottle of the old style Coca-Cola (with actual sugar, rather than corn syrup). If he did not have stage four cancer, i would recollect myself the worst enabler of all-time for an unhealthy lifestyle ;)
The kids get excited to go to Mark, because Mark continually stocks some sweet with them. I opened and read his playing cards out loud whilst the three of them chomped away! Mark asked me to place new batteries in his DVD player, so i was looking for the ones when I cautioned we arrange his drawers. I took everything out and put it on his mattress, and then positioned the whole lot lower back within the drawers in a much more organized way.
even as i used to be doing that, I got here across some papers, and Mark excitedly instructed me that he got mail. He told me to look at it and tell him what it was; it become a few office work for chemotherapy, that he'd seemingly already started! I guess Mark's nephew made the decision to go ahead with chemotherapy, however he didn't tell anyone. once I requested Mark about it, he stated he started out chemotherapy on Monday (and consistent with the papers, that turned into accurate). i used to be a bit greatly surprised, due to the fact we'd all expressed that we failed to suppose chemo was a good idea (which might be why Mark's nephew did not tell us it become occurring).
i am happy to see that Mark became doing simply nicely the day before today, though, in spite of the chemo. when he was identified with level four most cancers in numerous organs (originating in his lungs), my on the spot notion was that he should live the closing stage of his existence in as lots comfort as possible, and from what i've heard, I didn't suppose that chemo was a great choice in any respect. The docs even said that the chemo might just prolong a painful demise. however Mark seemed like he become doing truely properly the day past, so perhaps the chemo could be very moderate for him? I don't know, but i am hoping it does not get bad.
anyway, we talked a little about his pizza birthday party, and that i left a message along with his physical therapist to offer me a name about how we are able to transport Mark to the group domestic for an afternoon. We nonetheless do not know if he's going to ever be going back there to stay, but he is doing nicely enough proper now that he could probable go for a few hours for his pizza/cake birthday party. Mark is actually searching forward to it! i'm hoping that we can do it inside the next couple of weeks.
It become an awesome visit, and that i suppose i'll go again on Tuesday. the following day, he has any other chemo appointment, so it likely isn't always an excellent day to go. i am curious to see how he'll feel on Tuesday. (with the aid of the way, thank a lot for anyone who keeps to pray for him, consider him, ship him cards, etc. He clearly does feel the love!)
I forgot to get a picture these days, however i will attempt to don't forget subsequent time. Mark seems desirable!
This morning, I just had 4 miles at the agenda at an easy pace, and that i ran it on the treadmill. I moved the tempo up and down a chunk through the run, based on my coronary heart price (and tedium stage!).
After my run, I signed up for Delta SkyMiles and then bought my price ticket to Boston for Ragnar Cape Cod! The Ragnar SoCal is in April, and i'd been making plans for that considering summertime; but greater these days, a reader of my blog, Andrea, asked me if i would like to sign up for her Ragnar Cape Cod team in might also. i used to be intrigued by the concept of walking with whole strangers (clearly, I did not even "recognise" Andrea on the time of her e-mail!), and the cost of the trip might be minimum. So I said positive!
Andrea stated I ought to invite a friend to go along with me, so I would not be with *all* strangers. I requested Caitlin, and she became excited about it as properly. She lives simply outside of Boston, which is truely convenient for this Ragnar. So i will fly into Boston on may additionally eighth (Thursday), we will share a inn with the relaxation of the crew in Hull, MA on Thursday night. Friday morning starts offevolved the race, and is going till Saturday afternoon. Then Caitlin and i'm able to stay a night in Cape Cod Saturday, a night time in Boston on Sunday, after which i will go domestic that Monday morning. A brief, but fun-stuffed experience :)
while i was going to buy my price tag more than one weeks ago, I noticed that if I applied for a Delta American specific card, i would get a $50 credit on my ticket, and get a loose checked bag on each experience. on the grounds that i am traveling pretty a chunk this yr, I concept it'd be really worth doing! I obtained my card the day prior to this, however figuring the whole thing out on-line today become a big ache inside the ass. After lots of messing round with it, I ultimately got my price tag and earned my first SkyMiles.
sometimes, I suppose I may also have gotten in over my head through agreeing to do two Ragnar Relays within 5 weeks of each different, but i'm truly excited about both of them. it is type of humorous, due to the fact i am pretty shy, and becoming a member of a massive institution to do something like this is VERY unlike me. however running (and my weblog) have surely made me step outdoor of my comfort area in all sorts of areas, and this is simply one of these times. I never might have agreed to do this simply four years in the past, and now i'm truely searching forward to it!
just a reminder, tomorrow is Motivational Monday! when you have a picture of a health/health accomplishment you need to proportion, you may e mail it to me at SlimKatie (at) runsforcookies (dot) com, difficulty: Motivational Monday, with a quick description, and i may consist of it on tomorrow's submit! can't wait to peer what you've got all been as much as this week :)
