at the Reader Questions posts, i'm able to respond to questions i've acquired through e mail at questions@runsforcookies.com. The questions don't need to be about weight loss or strolling--something is sport! And Jerry stated he's up for answering questions as nicely.
i am sure you all recognise this, but simply remember that i'm now not a medical doctor or scientific professional, so the entirety I write is based totally by myself revel in. i'm a certified running train and authorized weight reduction specialist, so I do not just make things up out of nowhere, however ;) besides, that said, here goes the primary RQ put up in over three years!
Q. How many tattoos do you have? And has anyone told you that you look like Tina Majorino?
A. I had a dream ultimate night that i was answering this query, that's so weird! the answer is one tattoo (but in my dream, I truly had 4--haha!). The best tattoo that i have is a ladybug on my toe, which I were given while i used to be 18. I hate it. It looked right after I were given it, but it dwindled and the ink bled a little over time, so now it looks as if a fuzzy mole. I even get emails from people who see my tattoo on my Wednesday Weigh-in pix, suggesting that i am getting it looked at because it looks as if it may be melanoma ;) someday, perhaps i will get it removed, but I simply address it for now.
And apparently, sure--people HAVE instructed me that I look like Tina Majorino! My "real existence" friends and circle of relatives do not see it, so perhaps it is just within the manner that I appearance in photographs. I went thru Tina's pictures on Google, and Jerry and i agreed that that is the only that resembles me the maximum... but i've pretty an awful lot zero photographs of me no longer smiling, so it is hard to mention!

Q. How do you deal with the emotional side of weight loss? As an example, I'm currently overweight and eat whatever/whenever I want without caring, so for me to go from that to having to count, measure, and care about the foods I'm eating fills me with dread and sadness. Let's face it: food is good and eating is fun! I just don't know how to get over that aspect of weight loss.
A. that is some thing I struggled with lots when i was counting Weight Watchers factors. i used to be inclined to do it forever, however I attempted not to assume too far beforehand. a few days, I simply were given so frustrated due to the fact I desired to simply consume and now not ought to calculate factors. it's specially hard while going out to consume, and you can not just examine the menu and decide--you need to calculate the factors. i have even had little breakdowns at home whilst trying to determine out what to devour!
given that I commenced calorie counting, I experience plenty more at ease approximately it. a lot of eating places list the calories, which is simple. And if they don't, it is clean to make a very good guesstimate. Now, I definitely do not mind monitoring my food! I consume what I experience, and by using ingesting smaller portions, I sense like I enjoy the foods even more. I take my time eating, rather than consuming in no time.
it is a hard transition at the start, going from not counting/worrying to having to plan/measure/tune. however after a few weeks, it in reality turns into 2nd nature. I discover that making plans beforehand takes quite a few the strain out of it. i'd endorse to attempt to spend 10 minutes every evening planning out day after today's meals, so you do not ought to come up with something while you're hungry. I do not know about you, but hungry=cranky for me ;)
Q. You've mentioned before how you don't like some foods, like salad or some vegetables. I really admire how you've overcome things like fears of flying or dogs through exposure. Have you considered doing that with healthy foods you don't like? Or have you done that over the years with foods you now enjoy? I ask this because I used to not like a lot of healthy foods like peppers, avocado, almonds, etc. and learned to tolerate them just by exposing myself. Over time I grew to really like them.
A. that is a super question! i am looking to consider meals that I truely dislike, and there are handiest a couple that come to thoughts right now--yogurt and several types of cheese (blue cheese, goat cheese, gouda--I basically much like the average-joe cheeses). I used to say that I hated salad as well, but I undergo phases in which I consume it regularly. i like Caesar salad! I can't think of any greens that I truly dislike.
anyway, i am very open to trying new ingredients! i've attempted yogurt dozens of instances--all the unique manufacturers, flavors--and that i nonetheless simply don't love it. now and again, i'll buy a box to attempt once more, but no success with that one yet. before having youngsters, I hated inexperienced peppers. whilst i used to be pregnant with Eli, I craved them like loopy, and now green peppers are one in all my favourite vegetables! it's type of bizarre how that works.
the principle trouble i've with greens isn't that I dislike them, however simply that they're inconvenient to prepare. i love roasted cauliflower, for instance, however washing it, cutting it into florets, and roasting it's miles pretty a bit of prep work. generally, after I eat greens, they are blended into anything dinner i am making--I make quite a few skillet meals and casseroles, so i will throw the veggies into that.
So essentially, to reply your question, yes--i'm very open to trying foods that I dislike inside the hopes that i will one day experience them. There are quite a few foods I consume now that I hated when i was child, so I believe that our tastes alternate over time. Wine is any other example--I used to hate wine, can you trust it? Then i discovered a sweet wine that I liked, so I started out consuming that. Renee and that i formed a wine membership for our buddies to get together and attempt distinctive wines (and study them). before everything, I handiest appreciated the very candy ones; then I regularly commenced to like the semi-dry wines. And now, I just like the very formidable, very dry reds--those that I hated when I first commenced wine tasting!
i discovered this in a e book that I crammed out when i used to be six years antique, and i concept it turned into type of funny. I reputedly used to like salad while i was a child!
Nathan is my more youthful brother, for those of you that won't know ;) it's so humorous--Nathan changed into simply looking through his "My ebook approximately Me", and on this equal web page in his book, he wrote, "And please do not supply me any Jeanie. I can't stand it." (Jeanie is our sister). sincerely, we were a very loving circle of relatives!
thank you for the amazing questions!
