speaking of marathon training, i am now less than 8 weeks faraway from the race. This time round, schooling is tons higher--I don't need to cope with the knee pain, and it is made this type of big difference in my spirit. And i am splendid enthusiastic about going for walks within the fall. Michigan is fabulous inside the fall, and i'm certain the climate will be excellent for the race in mid-October.
It became pouring rain these days, so I took the kids to the pool on the rec middle. I did not genuinely sense like swimming, however I did tread water for a while while the children have been jumping off the diving board. Treading water receives tiring after a while! It reminded me of an episode of "I should not Be Alive", wherein this man is stranded in the ocean without a boat or raft or whatever, and he survives for a loopy amount of time--like 36 hours or something. that's a completely long term to stay afloat!
on to the review and giveaway...
currently, a corporation referred to as PlantFusion contacted me to look if i would want to pattern their protein powder. since it wasn't whey primarily based (I escape badly when I drink whey shakes), i was excited to strive it out. It become hard to discover a correct-tasting opportunity to the whey powder, however I in the end found one I simply appreciated (it is an egg protein powder).
anyway, PlantFusion sent me four single-serve packets, one in each of their flavors: vanilla bean, chocolate, chocolate raspberry, and unflavored. The powders are particular in that they incorporate:
- No dairy
- No soy
- No eggs
- No wheat
- No peanuts
- No tree nuts
- No fish
- No shellfish
- No animal
- and are Hypo-gluten free
First, I attempted the vanilla bean. I made it the manner I usually do my shakes--in a blender, with milk, some pudding mix, ice, xathan gum and guar gum (to make a creamy texture). I used Oreo pudding mix, to try to make a "cookies 'n cream" kind shake.
1 serving vanilla protein powder, 1 cup milk, 2 Tbsp. Oreo pudding mix, 1/4 tsp. each xanthan and guar gum, 10 ice cubes. |
I had no idea what to do with the chocolate raspberry taste, so I decided that to be truthful, I ought to blend it in step with the directions on the package--add it to ten-12 oz. of water and shake. i've in no way had a protein shake made that way before, due to the fact the notion of it simply grossed me out. but I recognise quite a few human beings drink their shakes that way, so I gave it a attempt.
I wasn't crazy approximately the taste. the feel became surely clearly first-rate, and the powder mixed into the water with none clumps in any respect, however the raspberry flavor turned into overpowering--it reminded me of raspberry Jello. Which a few humans might also certainly like--it simply wasn't my element.
i have never used the unflavored packet yet, because i am no longer certain what to do with it. i will must seek some recipes, however i will probable try it in oatmeal or something.
general, i would have to mention that the PlantFusion powders are absolutely the high-quality of all the vegan protein powders i've attempted. The vanilla bean become my favorite taste. commonly what I do with my egg protein powder is purchase just vanilla, after which when I want a chocolate shake, I add 1 Tbsp. of cocoa powder to it. No want to shop for both flavors.
